Intwasa scheme to contribute 40 percent of Zim total grain

The government initiated Pfumvudza/Intwasa farming scheme is set to contribute 40 percent of total grain production this year.

Statistics released by the Ministry of Lands, Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Rural resettlement show that of the 2,7 million tonnes of maize yield expected this year, 40 percent of that will be from the Pfumvudza/Inputs scheme.

The concept was implemented on a national scale this year as part of the agriculture recovery plan to restore the nation’s food security.

Farmers have commended the Pfumvudza/Intwasa farming concept for boosting their yields.

All in all, the country is set to achieve a 198 percent increase in grain production through a combination of government interventions.
