Pfumvudza inputs disbursed across the country

Over 70 thousand tonnes of compound d fertiliser secured under the Presidential inputs scheme have been dispatched to various parts of the country for onward disbursement to beneficiaries who are venturing into Pfumvudza and cotton programmes.

With most farmers finalising their land preparation, the fertiliser producer mandated to supply the commodity for Pfumvudza and cotton programmes mobilised over 80 percent of the required compound D for the Presidential inputs programmes.

A visit to the fertiliser manufacturing plant in Bindura showed that about 77 thousand tonnes of the basal fertiliser have been dispatched, while several trucks were loading the commodity for disbursement well ahead of the onset of the rains.

A visit to one of the biggest producers of fertiliser warehouses in Harare showed that there is a surplus in stock of the newly approved high analysed compounds for commercial farmers.

This year government launched the Pfumvudza programme which will see over 1.5 million households receiving inputs.

The timely availability of fertilisers come as good news for the country as weather experts predict a normal to above normal rainfall this cropping season.
