First rains bring relief to Bulawayo
The recent rains received in various parts of the country have come as a huge relief for residents of Bulawayo who had gone for several weeks without water.
With some areas in Bulawayo enduring up to two weeks without tap water, the recent rains have seen most residents turning to harvesting the precious liquid from their roof tops.
The depleted water levels in the supply dams saw the city of Bulawayo decommissioning its major sources in a development that prompted government to intervene in boosting the extraction of Nyamandlovu aquifers.
The predicted normal to above normal rainfall this summer season has revived hope not only for urban dwellers but farmers, some of whom have lost their livestock to drought.
