As the nation warms up to heroes’ day commemorations, some revolutionary figures recall abominable detention experiences they suffered at the hands of Rhodesian special forces.

One of the detainees, Cde Douglas Ndlovu who shared military imprisonment with liberation icons like Vice President Kembo Mohadi says each day was a nightmare.

Some of the sons and daughters of the soil who were unfairly incarcerated by the Ian Smith’s regime include Joshua Nkomo, Joseph Msika, Naison Ndlovu, Ruth Chinamano and many others.
