Funding going towards fighting COVID-19
President Emmerson Mnangagwa says the government has directed most of its funding to fight the scourge of Covid 19.
Speaking during at the principals executive meeting of the Political Actors Dialogue in Harare yesterday, President Mnangagwa said the global health emergency has revealed weaknesses relating to the country’s health system, initially the inability to handle the emergency due to inadequate equipment and medical supplies.
He said the pandemic which has negatively impacted the whole world has seen many countries taking action to protect their citizens and on the part of Zimbabwe, same measures have also been taken.
The President said despite having a spike in the number of local cases having increased in the recent past, all is being done to reduce the further spread of the disease adding that more tests are being done and the world health organization guidelines are being adopted with regard to the discharge of patients from quarantine centers.
