Zim Warriors ready

The Zimbabwe national soccer team- the Warriors are now set to begin preparations for the African Nations Championship-CHAN this Tuesday despite initial plans to get the ball rolling today.

Preparations for the African Nations Championship-CHAN to be held in Cameroon have been delayed by a day, with the Warriors squad called into camp now expected to begin training on Tuesday.

According to the initial arrangements, the squad was expected to report for camp on Sunday with the first day of training being this Monday.

However, Zifa communications manager Xolisani Gwesela confirmed training will start on Tuesday.

Preparations are set to run up to the 18th of this month after which the technical team will shift focus to back-to-back Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Algeria.

Zimbabwe is in Group A with hosts Cameroon, Mali and Burkina Faso.

The final squad is expected to leave for Cameroon on the 1st of next month ahead of the opening fixture against Cameroon on the fourth.

Twenty-nine players are expected to report for duty as the Warriors group of local based players gears up for the CHAN showpiece.

The most impressive performance by a Zimbabwean team, at the CHAN competition was the 2014 edition hosted by South Africa where Zimbabwe reached the semi-finals.
