Power cuts affect institutions
Matabeleland South Provincial Medical Director Dr Rudo chikodzore told ZANU pf senior leaders during a Provincial Coordinating Committee meeting held in Gwanda recently that operations at most health institutions have been severely affected by erratic power supplies.
While installing dedicated power lines for major hospitals will address the prevailing challenges, the Ministry of Health and Child care revealed plans to invest in solar energy for all its institutions.
Meanwhile, the Gwanda municipality has attributed water shortages in the provincial capital to the electricity outages as its water pumping system is powered by ZESA.
The province is experiencing up to 18 hours of load shedding on a daily basis, thereby affecting the operations of key institutions and businesses.
