ZRP Mat South issues temporary prohibition from carrying dangerous weapons

The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) in Matabeleland South Province has issued temporary
prohibition orders barring the public from carrying dangerous weapons in Gwanda ,Beitbridge and
Bulilima districts .
The prohibition order covers the period 15 October to 15 th January 2020 in Gwanda and Bulilima-
Mangwe districts as well as the 15 th September to 15 th of December in Beitbridge district .
ZRP Matabeleland South Provincial Community Relations officer Chief Inspector Philisani Ndebele says the
police invoked provisions of the Public Order and sSecurity aAct following numerous reports of
robberies ,assaults and murders in which dangerous weapons are used .
Any person found in possession of weapons which include catapults ,machetes ,axes , knobkerries
,swords , knives, spears and other traditional weapons shall be guilty of an offence and liable to
fines not exceeding level five or imprisonment of six month or both.
