HIV prevalence rates drop
Zimbabweans have been challenged not to take anything for granted in the fight against HIV and AIDS despite some positive statistics recorded over the years.
Matabeleland North province’s prevalence rate drastically came down from a high of 29 percent in 1999 to the current 20.1 percent among the adult population aged between 15 and 64.
In his address during a Zimbabwe Population Based HIV Impact Assessment (ZIMPHIA2020) sensitisation meeting in Bulawayo this Tuesday, the acting director in the office of the Minister of State for Matabeleland North province, Mr Tapera Mugoriya noted that there is no room to relax in the fight against HIV.
Matabeleland North Provincial medical director, Dr Pugie Chimberengwa indicated that the survey came at the right time as there is need for a constant reminder in the fight against HIV.
