Gvt reviews maize producer price
The government has reviewed the maize producer price by almost 200% to 4 000 RTGS$, up from 2 100 RTGS$ in an effort to encourage farmers to deliver their grain to the grain marketing board (GMB).
In a statement dated 4 October 2019, GMB encouraged farmers who still have grain to take advantage of the new price and urgently deliver their crop to their nearest depot.
Zimbabwe Farmers Union executive director Mr Paul Zakariya said the review of the producer price is a welcome move as it will encourage farmers to deliver maize to the GMB, but lamented the increase in the prices of most farming inputs.
