Harare man found with pangolin scales nabbed

A Harare man will spend nine months behind bars after being convicted for illegal possession of three pangolin scales and three kilogrammes of cyanide.

 Danmore Chinjonjo of 3146 Budiriro 2 in Harare was convicted by Victoria falls magistrate Mr Godfrey Ntando Dube. Chinjonjo’s conviction was premised upon two counts.

 In the first count, an investigator with the Zimbabwe Parks and Wildlife management authority received information that the accused was carrying cyanide.

 

The investigating team them intercepted Chinjonjo, searched him and found three pangolin scales and cyanide in his bag. On count two, further searches later on unearthed another two and a half kilogrammes of the toxic substance.

 

The three pangolin scales were valued at five thousand united states dollars.
