Gwanda hospital paralysed
Gwanda district hospital has been severely affected by power cuts, with authorities saying they are sometimes forced to turn away patients.
So dire is the situation that sometimes Gwanda hospital is forced to stop operating critical units like the dialysis division and eye clinic as the hospital goes for more than 18 hours without power.
Gwanda hospital medical superintendent, Dr Rutendo Manyathi says it is unfortunate that they sometimes turn away the elderly who would have travelled for more than 100km to seek healthcare services.
Currently the hospital relies on the backup solar system and diesel powered generator, but authorities say that is not enough.
