FODPZ on a disability sensitisation drive

The Federation of Organisations of Disabled People in Zimbabwe (FODPZ) is on a disability sensitisation drive across the country and has encouraged Zimbabweans to continue promoting friendly initiatives.

The initiative comes at a time when over one billion people across the globe live with physical impairment of which a huge fraction is in Sub-Saharan Africa.

While advocates have commended the progress recorded so far in setting disability friendly policies by government, they have called for support towards empowering disadvantaged communities to be intensified.

The sensitisation programme which is targeting tertiary education students is emphasizing the need to improve technical aids and equipment, reliable support systems and inclusive education and training.
