Gvt urged to intervene in food distribution
Government has been urged to intervene and assist vulnerable households who are being charged transport costs for drought relief grain in foreign currency.
This comes after Chief Malaba of Matobo district told government officials at the recent commissioning of equipment acquired through the devolution fund that he was not happy with transport operators who are charging beneficiaries in Rand for grain deliveries.
According to government policy, the beneficiaries are expected to pay 3 Zimbabwean dollars for transport costs hence the plea by Chief Malaba.
Villagers of ward 8, Nhlupho area weighed in saying some local shop owners are still selling their products in foreign currency amid claims that their stock is imported from South Africa.
