Family week welcome by inmates

Inmates at the Beitbridge prison are on cloud nine after getting an opportunity to interact with relatives and family members during the Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Services family week.

 Unlike in the past where prisons were a banishment facility whose purpose was to punish offenders, the transformed prisons and correctional services has become a reform and capacity building institution.

 The Prison and Correctional Services family week is one such initiative where inmates get the opportunity to interact with family members who welcomed the timing as it coincides with school holidays.

The inmates are also being equipped with various skills which are meant to help in their integration back to society.
