Nkomo brothers found dead after four days of drowning

The Zimbabwe Republic Police-ZRP and Victoria falls rafting guides team have finally managed to retrieve the bodies of two Nkomo brothers who drowned along the Zambezi river putting to an end a four-day search for the missing duo.

What was supposed to be a memorable excursion for three young men from Chisuma village ended in a tragedy as two of the Nkomo brothers were swept away by the strong current while taking photos near Zambezi river rapid number 19 commonly referred to by rafting guiders as “the last straw.”

As each minute passed hopes of finding the two alive were fading and the villagers worst fears were confirmed when the rescue team emerged from the gorges with 13 year old Thando Nkomo’s body on a stretcher on Monday. Exactly 24 hours later the elder brother Nkazimulo’s body was discovered on the same spot.

Family spokesperson Mr Headman Nkomo says the  family is still trying to come to terms with the unfortunate incident while expressing gratitude to the tourism industry and the villagers for their support.
