Tsholotsho farmers ready for cotton farming

Tsholotsho farmers are opting to take up cotton farming as part of the district’s drive into drought resistant cropping.

Statistics from the cotton company of Zimbabwe (Cottco) shows that cotton farmers pocketed more than $30 million in last year’s cotton marketing season. The statistics are a sign that the plant could be a potential game changer in Tsholotsho’s economy.

In an interview with our news crew, Elvis Ncube a cotton farmer from Tsholotsho ward 22 who has successfully grown the crop said the district’s soils and climatic conditions are conducive for good yields.

Experts have concurred that with good support and education, turning to cotton farming could be one of the best alternatives for the district farming sector.
