Botswana re-assures SADC of taking leading role in management of elephants
Botswana has re-assured the rest of the SADC region that it will take a leading role in the ongoing drive towards a common vision in the management of elephants and has implored other member countries to resolutely and collectively champion the sustainable utilization of the wildlife resources for the benefit of the host communities.
After having been on the sidelines for long, Botswana says it is back for good and will stand in solidarity with the entire region in the ongoing drive to deal with challenges emanating from wildlife conflict and the continued ban on international trade in raw ivory.
Zimbabwe’s Environment, Tourism and Hospitality Minister Cde Priscah Mupfumira concurred with her counterparts on the need for home grown solutions in elephant management and implored the media to play a part in projecting the efforts by the region in championing sustainable wildlife conservation.
