Cyclone death toll now at 98 in Zimbabwe
The death from Tropical Cyclone Idai has risen to 98, according to latest figures from the government.The Ministry of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services posted the latest updates on its Twitter handle this evening, indicating that 217 people are still missing.Rescue efforts continue in the hardest hit districts of Chimanimani and Chipinge, with revelations that 42 are still marooned. 102 people were injured in the disaster and are receiving treatment at various hospitals in Manicaland Province.
President Filipe Nyusi of Mozambique feared the death toll could rise to 1,000 in Mozambique in the wake of Cyclone Idai he said in a nationwide address on Monday.
