BCC embarks on mosquito control program

Bulawayo City Council has embarked on a mosquito controlling program in different areas of the city. This comes at a time when the rainy season is approaching and mosquitoes have started breeding.
Streams that were covered are Bulawayo Spruit, Matsheumhlope, Hillside police, Hillside dams, Trojan canal, Premier, Pumula south, Pumula east, Glengarry, Masilela, Emakhandeni, Njube-o square, Mahlathini, Cowdray park-pump station, Ngozi mine, Entumbane-war vets, and Matshobana. The section cleared 3885m along Cowdray park-Roman Catholic Church stream.
Director of health services for Bulawayo City Council Dr Edwin Sibanda said moderate to heavy breeding of mosquitoes was encountered and reassured residents that mosquitoes will not be a menace this year.
He also highlighted that residents can also pay for indoor residual spraying if need be.
