Local oil manufacturer partners with farmers

In an effort to ease growing shortages of locally produced cooking oil and stock feed, a local oil manufacturer has partnered with financial institutions, agronomists, suppliers of agro-chemicals and inputs to produce soya beans in the country.
At a press briefing at their plant on Monday, Chief Executive Officer of United Refineries Limited Mr. Busisa Moyo said they have gathered interested parties to partner them in the Soya Bean Out growers Alliance (SOBOA). He added that ministries such as Industry and Commerce, Finance, Agriculture together with farmers are key in this initiative.
Chief Agronomist in the Alliance Mrs. Eliza Musumwa said they are looking at partnering with farmers with irrigation schemes and in agricultural regions that are performing well.
