Tsholotsho hospital sewer system cause for concern

Growing concern has been raised over the Tsholotsho hospital sewer system which is a potential heath hazard in the current times of primitive diseases out break.

The Health Medical officer Dr Ntombiyakogasa Sithole has reached out to the stakeholders of the Tsholotsho rural districts on the state of hospital sewer system.

Fundani Sibanda the district environmental officer said the situation has led to closure of hospital toilets, sanitary and disposal systems leading to the use of risky alternatives in times of cholera out break.

Health workers are exposed to challenges such as helping patients to walk to the blair toilets. They also take a risk of disposing infectious waste at a distance approximately 70 metres.

A meeting was held at the council’s conference room with the district major stake holders where contributions and donations were made to temporarily construct a septic tank to tackle the hospital sewer system challenge.
