Government to support Antelope Estate through proposed dam
The government has expressed its commitment to supporting ARDA Antelope Estate’s expansion drive through the construction of the proposed Mwewe dam.
Briefing the then acting President Retired General Constantino Chiwenga during a visit to ARDA Antelope Estate in Maphisa, Matobo district last Friday, the parastatal ‘s board chairman Mr Basil Nyabadza said while the irrigation scheme’s current hecterage is 680 the vision is to reach 3000 hectares in the next couple of years.
In his response Retired General Constantino Chiwenga expresed satisfaction with the operations at the scheme that also venture in processing and milling of its products saying government is fully committed to supporting its expansion drive.
The Minister of Lands , Agriculture and Rural Resettlement Retired Air Chief Mashall Perrence Shiri urged farmers in Matobo district to play their part in reviving the agriculture sector which is the mainstay of the country ‘s economy .
