First Lady urges children to be disciplined
The First Lady, Cde Auxillia Mnangagwa says discipline is important among children.
She made the remarks when she met with students in Mashonaland Central Province today in an engagement necessitated by reports of high prevalence rates of early child marriages and drop outs in the province.
Cde Mnangagwa emphasised the need for self discipline among children.
“You are at a critical age, an age at which you should shape your future and identity. All this can be done through going to school, listening to your parents and teachers,” she said.
“I am also worried about the high substance intake amongst youths, drugs. I thought the problem is rampant only in towns but I have since realised that even here in rural areas drug abuse is now a major problem,” the First Lady added.
The children aired their views on some of the challenges they face in society and at school.
The First Lady distributed thousands of special reusable sanitary wear to disadvantaged girls in the province.
The engagement exercise is expected to spread to other provinces.
