SMEs urged to create strong linkages with large corporates

THE SMALL-TO-MEDIUM ENTERPRISES OPERATING IN THE COUNTRY TOURISM CAPITAL VICTORIA FALLS AND HWANGE HAVE BEEN URGED TO CREATED STRONG LINKAGES WITH THE LARGE CORPORATES IN THE HOSPITALITY SECTOR AND TO PRIORITIZE STANDARDS AND QUALITY AS THE COUNTRY SEEKS TO ENSURE INCLUSIVE AS WELL AS EXPORT-LED ECONOMIC GROWTH.
THE GOVERNMENT HAS EXPRESSED SATISFACTION WITH THE GROWTH OF BUSINESS VENTURES BEING IMPLEMENTED BY SMES IN VICTORIA FALLS AND HWANGE WHO HAVE ACCESSED FUNDS FROM THE SMALL AND MEDIUM ENTERPRISES DEVELOPMENT COOPERATIVES (SMEDCO) AND OTHER STATE INITIATED EMPOWERMENT FACILITIES.
SMALL AND MEDIUM ENTERPRISES DEVELOPMENT MINISTER DR. SITHEMBISO NYONI WHO WAS ON A TOUR OF SMES PROJECTS IN VICTORIA FALLS AND HWANGE SAID GOING FORWARD THERE IS NEED FOR THE SMALL BUSINESS OPERATORS TO DEVELOP STRONG TIES WITH ESTABLISHED CORPORATES IN THE HOSPITALITY INDUSTRY AND FOR THEM TO COMPLY WITH RELEVANT STANDARDS.
SMALL BUSINESS OPERATORS FROM BOTH HWANGE AND VICTORIA FALLS COMMENDED GOVERNMENT FOR FINANCIAL SUPPORT AND PRO-PRODUCTIVE POLICIES AIMED AT ENSURING THAT THE SMES SECTOR INCREASES ITS CONTRIBUTION TO THE BROADER ECONOMY.
